Spend a day at the Brookfield Zoo, located at First Avenue between Ogden Avenue and 31st Street in Brookfield, Illinois, just 14 miles west of downtown Chicago. The Filipino American Historical Society of Chicago and FAHMCI invite you to visit the Philippines display booth at the East Mall. Volunteers needed at the booth. Filipino Arts at a Glimpse ‘Pinas Sining’ is presented by The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago to celebrate the Filipino American History Month, the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal and the Chicago Artists Month. CULTURAL EXHIBITS – TRAVELING
PACF Exhibits of History and culture will be available for display in various schools, churches, libraries and villages to increase awareness for the rich heritage and culture of the Philippines.
RELIGIOUS EVENTS
Simbang Gabi groups will host a special mass or incorporate FAHM in an already planned mass in various churches in Chicago and suburbs. Activities include special prayers and a showcase of Filipino culture and traditions through exhibits, food, dance, arts etc. Other church denominations are planning similar FAHM activities.

Chicago Cultural Center Claudia Cassidy Theater 77 E Randolph St., 2nd Floor, Chicago, IL 60602. “Jose Rizal” the movie, is considered the biggest blockbuster film ever made in the history of Philippine cinema. Directed by Marilou Diaz Abaya, this movie won over 70 international awards, including 16 awards from the 1998 Metro Manila Film Festival, 11 awards from the 1999 FAMAS awards, 6 awards from the 1999 Grand Urian Awards, 8 from the 1999 Star Awards and various awards from festivals worldwide including the Berlin International and Toronto Film Festivals.

Friday, October 21 2011 @ 7pm Kundiman Alay Kay Rizal, An Evening of Filipino Classic Songs
Columbia College CONAWAY CENTER 1104 S. WABASH AVE. The concert will feature Kundiman songs, Filipino art songs: tunes of nostalgia, romance, life in the countyside and love of country written by Filipino composers.
