Passport to the World is a series of celebrations at Chicago Children’s Museum. The Museum staff work in collaboration with community representatives in order to develop and present programming that authentically represents the art, culture and traditions of a particular country.

What are the goals of the program?

To build and maintain relationships between Chicago Children’s Museum and ethnically diverse neighborhoods, their families and their institutions

To provide opportunities for Museum visitors to learn more about the arts and culture of Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods

To reach large numbers of children and families traditionally undeserved by cultural institutions

To enhance Chicago Children’s Museum’s presence and name recognition in Chicago communities

The Philippines has been chosen specifically because it represents a sizable ethnic community in Chicago with a rich history and contributions to the city.Local community leaders and residents are working to coordinate demonstrations. activities and performances representing the Philippines kicking off on June 14 until June 16. Join the Parade of Philippine Costumes and Festivals at Navy Pier on Saturday, June 16 starting at 11AM.

Admission to Chicago Children’s Museum:

All performers and demonstrators will be admitted to the museum free of charge.Â There will be no additional charge to the general public to attend the festivals beyond the usual admission fees. There is no admission charge on Thursday evenings from 5pm-8pm. Low group rates are available for other times.
