Manny Pacquiao Dominates the Weekend

Welcome to another E-dition of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Chicago’s Monthly News and Events ON-LINE.
This past weekend brought to us another fine example of what determination and hard work can bring to Filipino-Americans, courtesy of our Greatest Boxing Hero EVER, MANNY “PACMAN” PACQUIAO!!!
This fight was amazing from the start, and the contrasts between the two fighters- the Philippines’ Manny Pacquiao and Puerto Rico’s Miguel Sotto were visible from the moment they entered the MGM.
Manny, entered in the most typical of Filipino fashion, Big grins and smiles for all -that is one trait that I’ve always noticed and appreciated from the Filipino community, the ready and warm smiles that greet new and old friends alike. While, Miguel Sotto entered with what looked like an almost apprehensive look with a twinge of fear.
The contrast in size was also glaringly evident, if only for the first round, with Cotto trying to impose his vaunted size and strength advantage over a smaller, yet spectacularly more talented Pacquiao.
Even the difference in the fighter’s corners was evident. Freddie Roach and Buboy provided an unbeatable combination of experience and loyal support, while Cotto’s corner included an inexperienced newcomer without the confidence to keep it “Real” for his fighter. This showed in the later rounds when defeat was inevitable and further damage to Cotto was useless and dangerous.
Manny Pacquiao is a shining example of success through determination, teamwork, and support, and if you’re a small business owner or entrepreneur, the PACCGC is in your corner!
