The Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Texas will be hosting a Trade Mission to the Philippines from October 11-17. This is a great opportunity for those businesses interested in expanding to the Philippines. The following is a letter from Executive Director Gus Mercado of Texas

Dear leaders and friends in the Phil-Am Community:
Fulfilling a promise made to the new Philippine President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino when we attended his inaugural to support his presidency, we are organizing a new Investment and Trade Mission to the Philippines on October 11-17. This will be the first Phil-Am Trade Mission to be received by the new President. As you know, President Noynoy won a huge landslide victory among the U.S.-based Fil-Am voters, and he now enjoys a record 88% approval rating among all Filipinos. We hope you can join us and meet him up close and personal. You will not be disappointed.
The 50 delegates from Texas and our guest delegates from 10 states and Canada who joined us three years ago had the time of their lives when the five CALABARZON governors rolled out the red carpet for them and showed them the best that their lovely provinces can offer (see attached pictorials). The 2007 Trade Mission also resulted in more than $12 million in new business for the delegates who found new partners and customers for their products and services. This is a long-awaited encore of that very successful trip. A detailed itinerary will be sent to interested and qualified participants.
Following the successful formula that we used 3 years ago, all delegates are making their own travel arrangements to suit their individual needs. The only two conditions to be met to be eligible to join this important trip: (a) You must have a legitimate business reason for joining — e.g., look for potential buyers, suppliers or outsourcing partners, explore investing in a business or real estate property for retirement, medical tourism, etc.; (b) You must join the scheduled tour of the CALABARZON provinces hosted by their governors. This part of the program is priceless! All of these, plus 6 nights in a first class hotel, all local transportation to the provinces including Subic, conferences and most meals are part of the package for as low as only $795.00.
If interested, please contact us so we can send you the Reservation Form. You may also start scouting for low airfares while low-season fares are still available. Delegation seats are limited to 50, and the 20 available will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis to qualified individuals or companies. If you can swing it, don’t miss this rare opportunity.
We would like to hear from you. Please also circulate to your own circle of friends and business associates who may benefit from this.
Sincerely,
Gus Mercado
Executive Director, PACC Texas

Illinois State Lottery Privatization

The State of Illinois is in the process of reviewing bids for the privatization of the Illinois State Lottery. This privatization also has contract set-aside goals for minority, women, and disadvantaged small businesses. If your company falls under this category, than you’ll definitely want to be part of this privatization effort.
I will be getting more information on this opportunity and will update all when I receive the information, but you can count on the following industries to have some awards: IT, Accounting, Legal, Marketing, Consulting, Communications, etc… If you’re in this industry, than you should really consider getting involved with this effort.
One important factor for businesses interested in getting involved with these opportunities is CERTIFICATION. You need to be Certified as an MWBE or DBE to be included in this. If you haven’t gotten your certification, we can help.

The recently-passed omnibus healthcare reform bill aims to restructure the foundation of all private healthcare enterprises in the United States. The ambitious reform packages seeks to provide comprehensive insurance coverage for up to 98% of all eligible Americans. In order to finance the bill, congress approved over 500 billion dollars in medicare cuts including substantial permanent cuts on home healthcare services and equipment.

What do these medicare budget cuts mean for the home health agents and their providers? How can you prepare your organization to weather the changes. Are there unanticipated challenges facing your business or perhaps new opportunities.

On Tuesday May 25th 2010, join Merill Lynch and NAPAHC to hear from two of the leading healthcare policy experts about the consequences of the passage 2010 Healthcare Reform for home healthcare businesses. Our panel will include leading authorities on Health Administration and Medicare policies both from private insurance-based health systems and within the federal government:
